Tickets do not ‘automatically’ go into a Damage status. If there is a strike/dig-in event, one of the most important tasks is to call 811 and let them know about the situation. Provide them with the ticket number and they will update the ticket (or in some States create a new ticket in the ‘chain’). The status of the ticket will then be ‘Damage’ as shown here:
Once the utility strike has been resolved, how do we change the Red status color of the ticket?
If the damage ticket shares the same number as the original ticket or is part of the chain, then calling 811 or logging into the call center to ask for remarks will force an update to the ticket so it is no longer in a Damage state and the color will update appropriately. California, Nevada, Oklahoma are examples of these states.
If your state (such as Nebraska) creates a new, separate ticket for the damage, then once the damage condition is cleared and work has resumed you can set the damaged ticket to Completed to remove it from the map and list.
