Field Mode streamlines the mobile app for on‑site work by focusing the ticket list and limiting actions that can cause unintended changes in the field. This article explains what you’ll see and be able to do when Field Mode is switched on versus off.
Field Mode is enabled by default. Company Admins can turn Field Mode on if needed, but are not forced into it.
When Field Mode is ON
The ticket list is locked to three columns: Ticket, Safe to Dig, and Work Order/Job - so field users get fast access to what matters most on‑site.
Opening a ticket shows a simplified details view with limited actions. Closing a ticket is not available - the check mark action is hidden in Field Mode.
When Field Mode is ON, users are prevented from performing the following ticket tasks:
Close tickets,
Reassign a ticket
Change the tickets associated job,
Move a ticket to another office
Edit lifecycle details such as the renew‑until date.
Delete attachments
Remove contacts assigned to a ticket
All other everyday tasks remain available with Field Mode ON. Users can update a ticket’s description and other custom fields, and they can override responses when appropriate. This allows field teams to capture accurate, timely information without risking accidental closures or structural changes.
In the Jobs area, Field Mode also prevents users from closing jobs, deleting jobs, or editing any job fields.
When Field Mode is OFF
The ticket list shows all columns—similar to the web app—and columns can be customized (use the gear in the top right).
Ticket details return to the full set of actions your role permits, including the ability to close a ticket—the check mark appears above the share button.
Status and phase
Field Mode does not automatically change status or phase. Your company may choose to restrict editing status or phase while Field Mode is on. If editing is limited, you can still view status and phase in Field Mode, but you’ll need to switch Field Mode off or ask a user with the required permissions to update them.
Permissions and roles
Field Mode respects your role‑based permissions. Even if a capability is enabled for Field Mode at the company level, you must have the correct permission to use it. Company Admins can configure which actions appear in Field Mode and who can perform them.
Toggling Field Mode
If your company allows user‑controlled Field Mode, you can turn it on or off in the app settings. The visible columns and available actions update immediately based on company configuration and your role.
If you don’t see an action of printing, emailing, overriding member responses, or other actions are missing while Field Mode is on, they may be disabled by your company. Switch Field Mode off (if allowed) or contact your administrator to confirm what’s available to your role outside of Field Mode.
